Always one to state his opinion on the representation of the marginalised and the wrongs of society, British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed spoke up against the recent Charlottesville incidents on the The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the way he knows best – spoken word.

Know for his rap musings, Riz started off with a few words from his poetry from 2007 titled Sour Time on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night.

“In these sour times, please allow me to vouch for mine,

Bitter taste in my mouth, spit it out with a rhyme,

I’m losing my religion to tomorrow’s headlines,” the actor said.

Riz Ahmed, who is best known for his roles on HBO’s The Night Of and The Reluctant Fundamentalist, spoke about the recent incident where a car drove into a group of protesters in the North Carolina city, which also became the hub for white supremacist rallies.

“I wrote this piece ten years ago and I keep hoping that it will become irrelevant but every year, it seems to become more and more relevant,” the actor told Jimmy Fallon.

Riz Ahmed was last seen in a collaboration with Ali Sethi for the Swet Shop Boys video titled ‘Aaja’, which was also dedicated to Qandeel Baloch.
