With every passing day, the reasons behind Chain Aye Na’s failure at the box office keep getting wackier. Whether it was the slap-gate controversy or the fact that the film went on to empty seats in most multiplexes, the filmmaker behind the movie, Syed Noor, cannot take the reality as it is.

Organising a press conference at Karachi Press Club, the veteran Lollywood took jabs at the media and ‘bloggers’ for the gargantuan failure of his comeback film, Chain Aye Na. Talking to the media present at the conference, the director blamed a number of reasons for the box-office disaster.

“It took seven months making a film in Karachi and that made me want to make all my upcoming films in Karachi. However, for Chain Aye Na, I was warned about the bloggers, who I was told don’t write positive reviews unless they are paid. I ignored them but I didn’t know the power of bloggers,” Syed Noor claimed. “My film is a simple love story. And they turned it into a film against women, all because of a slap. I must tell you that it was a slap of love, as all lovers do fight,” he added.

Spewing hate against digital platforms, which the director kept calling blogs, Syed Noor urged that writers stop writing reviews for ‘at least a week.’

“They must understand that we bring a huge investment into this industry and these negative reviews affect their output, which will discourage investors from returning again. I am not against bloggers. I am just strongly urging that they hold off reviews for at least a week and let the public decide,” he said.

In what turned out to be an hour long (or more) tirade against any one who the filmmaker deemed against the film, Syed Noor kept claiming that the film was a huge success internationally.

“It’s only here that my film has suffered, otherwise, Chain Aye Na was a box office success in the US and Canada,” the director said. Claiming that this could be an alleged ‘Indian conspiracy, Syed Noor added, “I don’t know why they do this. I think it’s an Indian agenda to hurt the Pakistani film industry. Our cinema is just once again growing and they don’t want to see this happen.”
