Academy Award winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is striving to make content that helps us understand the turmoil of issues that surround Pakistan and shed light on those, who despite the circumstances, remain undeterred and continue to inspire humanity with their deeds.

Ramazan — being the month of compassion and tolerance — encouraged SOC Films to come up with yet another brilliant initiative called Stories for our children, an animated YouTube series that delves deep into the experiences of real-life heroes who stood up for diversity and inclusion and left us inspired with their choice of work.

Taking inspiration from real life events and people, the first episode featured the life of Abdul Sattar Edhi, taking us back to the ’50s when the great philanthropist started his ambulance service and opened a free medical dispensary for people in need.

The second episode features an inspiring story of Kulsoom Hazara, a young girl born in Quetta. It highlights her struggles after she became an orphan at the age of 7 and how, with the guidance of her brother in-law, she successfully became one of Pakistan’s leading karate champions.

Stories for our children focuses on real-life accounts which motivate us to do something good for our country and leave a shining example for others to learn from.

Sarcasm and witty puns are my best friends (also my worst enemies). I love turning my world around on its axis and soon the most ordinary events turn into the craziest stories.
