With several hit films this year, including a Pakistani movie like Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 that has managed to cross the whopping 50 crore mark in a record time, there are high hopes for the future of our film industry and for a galaxy of bigger and better stars. The film fraternity is finally moving in the right direction and now we want our most celebrated stars to come in the limelight and entertain us on the silver screen.

Here are four high profile TV stars who we desperately need to see on cinema screens; some of them have appeared in Bollywood films but not yet in Pakistan, some may have appeared in a film or two that tanked and no one watched while some may not have done films altogether. Here’s who we’re talking about…

Fawad Khan

A star whose name needs no introduction, Fawad was in the public eye for over a decade but became a huge star within a span of three years after receiving rave reviews and a Filmfare Award for Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons and Karan Johar’s  Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Suffice to say he is perhaps the only Pakistani actor of recent times who won over the bigwigs of the Hindi film industry with a single performance, and garnered fame, love and respect for his acting chops as well as to-die-for looks. Although Fawad was the trailblazer in Pakistani cinema’s revival as he was in Khuda Kay Liye back in the year 2007, the Humsafar star never signed up for any more local films. This came as a shock and disappointment for his colossal fan following in his home country.

Fawad’s hiatus was long and hard, but his absence on the big screen is about to end with the much-anticipated big Maula Jatt film, which is all set to release on Eidul Fitr next year and boy, fans are rejoicing!

The heartthrob will be seen reprising the iconic character of Maula Jatt, along with Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Mallick in a new story made under the Jatt umbrella. The film and role both are exciting and uncharted territories for the mega star, and we expect a startling performance nonetheless.

Sajal Aly

The petite and doe-eyed actress is definitely one to watch out for. While Sajal mostly sticks to TV dramas, her last performance in the Sridevi and Adnan Siddiqui starrer Mom was riveting and mesmeric at the same time. The young actress has previously done a Pakistani film called Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay with director Anjum Shehzad in 2016, which fell flat at the box office.

It’s her TV career that has kept her name alive. Drama serials like Yaqeen ka Safar and O Rangreza kept Sajal in the news through 2017. The actress will soon be seen in the upcoming, much-hyped drama serial Aangan, which has notable names like Mawra Hocane, Ahad Raza Mir and Ahsan Khan in the cast.

Furthermore, Sajal is also part of another multi-star project Alif with Hamza Ali Abbasi.

The vivacious actress has proved her métier with so many projects and we’re desperate to see her in a big budget movie, maybe opposite Ahad Raza Mir [one could hope]?

Ahad Raza Mir

After Parwaaz Hai Junoon’s (PHJ) success, Ahad Raza Mir is the new hot sensation in town. The Yaqeen Ka Safar famed star left viewers yearning for more with his brief role in PHJ. His screen time wasn’t as much as we had expected. Next up, Ahad is all set to make waves in Aangan with Sajal Aly – TV’s most adored couple – that people just can’t seem to get enough of.

We love this on-screen duo so much that we long for it to make an appearance in a movie theatre. However, if that is not likely to happen soon (considering they are already roped in for TV dramas) Ahad should sign up for something challenging. The actor is, however, gearing up for performing in a Shakespeare play Hamlet, in Canada.

We’d like to watch him diversify and break into song and dance on the big screen.

Feroze Khan

Feroze Khan has gradually but steadily stepped up his game in the TV business and is making his mark with performances like Mir Hadi in Khaani. His role in the serial received mixed reviews due to its conflicting nature but undoubtedly he essayed the vicious play of power and authority to a tee. However, Feroze also fall prey to a flawed choice for his debut movie when he starred opposite Sajal Aly in Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay.

The actor, who is known to play intense and difficult characters, is now diversifying his deep broody image with his upcoming project, Romeo weds Heer. It is a romantic and lighthearted story where we can see him dancing along with Sana Javed. The two have previously paired up for a drastically different theme in Khaani and the play is a good opportunity for the Gul-e-Rana actor to showcase his versatility.

Feroze has got the brain and the brawn; he has all the charisma needed to become a silver screen hero; all he needs now is a good project for a re-launch.

Which one of these stars, would you want to see in a movie? And is there anyone else, we may have missed?
