With each passing year, the holy month of Ramazan seems to be falling in the deadliest of weather and what can one say? Karachi heat has to be the worst of its kind. Sindh Government has actually issued a Red Alert for the next 96 hours in Karachi. Mean temperature will be between 50.1 to 55.5 °C. Best to stay hydrated.

However, other than the cruel Karachi summer, we love the city in all its glory. While the weather may not go easy on us anytime soon, let us share a few good easy-breezy recipes of five amazing chillers to keep cool with this Ramazan.

So, let’s get started:

1. Kairi ka sharbat aka Aam Panna

The only good thing about Karachi summer is the fruits it bears and one of the most loved one has to be mangoes. This drink is made out of kairi (raw mango) with just the right amount of chill needed in this heat. And what makes it better are the simple ingredients for this drink.

Ingredients:
Kairi (boiled and pulp separated)
Water
Sugar
Black salt
Half a lemon
4-5 mint leaves (optional)
Crushed ice

2. Falsay ka sharbat

Falsas are also among the most loved fruit of summer and they are rather short lived so you may want to stock up and freeze the berries; they are great in taste. The best thing to do is get as many falsas and blend them into a thick, pulpy juice to beat the heat.

Ingredients:
Falsas
Water
Sugar
Black Salt
Half a lemon
Crushed Ice

3. Watermelon chiller

Watermelons are readily available these days and while it may get boring to have it cut and consumed in cubes, we bring to you this chiller. It started as an experiment but since it turned out so good, we must share the magical recipe for you to try.

Ingredients:
Watermelon (cut in cubes)
Cucumber (shavings)
Sugar
Honey

4. Imli ka sharbat

This drink is by far the oldest remedy for fighting heatstroke. It never gets old and is super easy to make.

Ingredients:
Imli (pulp)
Water
Sugar
Black salt
Roasted cumin (crushed in powder form)
Mint leaves
Half a lemon
Crushed ice

5. Lemon mint cooler

This lemon mint cooler is better than a lemonade and is best to pair up at iftar.

Ingredients:

Black salt
Mint leaves (finely chopped)
7up/Sprite (optional)
