Pakistan’s film industry is still in its nascent stage and thus it’s a breeding ground for opportunities and experiments. There is room for artistes from TV, theatre and even the fashion world to join forces. Last year we witnessed Maya Ali and Adnan Malik, to name a few, who made their cinematic debuts. And boy their performances were gripping! This year is also going to be super exciting! Why? Well, we are anticipating some of the most happening movies. There are high chances that we will get to see a few more memorable debutants.

Yes, you have read it right! We have showered our love on these recognized faces for being drama actors, models, or singers. Hence, it is going to be a treat for us to see what they will offer on the big screen. Here’s a rundown of expected cinematic debuts we are looking forward to this year.

Farhan Saeed

The Suno Chanda famed star started his career as a singer but now has been stealing hearts with his acting. There were speculations that Farhan Saeed will make his film debut in Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar’s Kaaf Kangana but that didn’t materialize. We also heard that he was approached for Wajahat Rauf’s Karachi Se Lahore 3, though it didn’t pan out either. However, Farhan is now all set to make his debut in his home production – Tich Button – starring Feroze Khan, Iman Aly and Sonya Hussyn in lead roles alongside him.

Zara Noor Abbas

film debut

The actress became a household name with her play Khamoshi. Zara will be seen in Asim Raza’s directorial Parey Hut Love opposite Ahmed Ali Butt, this Eid ul Azha. Shehzad Roy

Well this name is definitely a surprise! Shehzad Roy is a pop singer who is known for his eternal youthful looks. The singer is known for his active philanthropic work but last year we heard that Shehzad will be making his acting debut alongside Faisal Qureshi in an upcoming film Alif Noon, which is an adaptation of famous PTV drama series of the same name. Zahid Ahmed has given some of the finest performances of current times. He has projects like Sangat, Visaal, Besharam and Daldal to his credit, but now he is geared up to make a big screen debut. Zahid will feature alongside Faysal Quraishi, Aamina Sheikh and Faryal Mehmood in a film titled Sorry – A Love Story. The film is directed by music video director Sohail Javed in collaboration with Faysal Quraishi, who is also the producer.

Hamza Firdous

film debut

The new-age actor has carved a niche for himself in a short span of time. After his noteworthy performance in TV drama O Rangreza — where he played the character of Sajal Aly’s elder brother (Tipu) and his promising role as a Hindu in the period play Gughi, Hamza Firdous has proven through his few yet solid acts that he knows his craft.

The actor will be making his film debut with Aashiq, which is directed by Asad Mumtaz Malik. Talking to Something Haute recently, Hamza revealed, “The film addresses the taboo topic of street children. People have this opinion that it is maybe an artsy film, but it’s not. It is a completely commercial script.”

Hamza will be seen donning the character of a journalist in Aashiq. The film, which is expected to release by the end of this year, will star Hajra Yamin, Adnan Shah Tipu, Saleem Mairaj and others.
