With summer fast approaching, the heat can wreak havoc on your skin. Scrub up and exfoliate to get rid of all the toxins accumulated during the summer. Team Something Haute approached skin specialist Dr.Tanya and got some tips on how to get and maintain glowing skin this season.
TURN THE HEAT OFF, SWITCH TO COLD SHOWERS
Hot showers and baths always feel good in the winter, but it’s advisable to choose cold water to avoid stripping as many oils away from the skin. Cold water helps keep the skin unclogged and minimises the chances of acne.
FRUIT FOR THOUGHT, STOCK UP ON IT
Fruit is full of water so naturally, it is a great way to keep your skin hydrated. It also contains lots of beneficial vitamins and minerals that can give your skin a much-needed boost. Swap your 3pm chocolate bar for a nice piece of fruit and you’re guaranteed to notice the difference, specially fruits with high level of vitamin C, as they are great for skin. Vitamin C instantly adds a rosy glow, and boosts collagen-producing fibroblasts to keep skin youthfully firm.
TRY HOMEMADE PRODUCTS
To make your skin feel velvety soft and smooth, prepare a few sugar scrubs at home and store them in a jar to use them throughout the summer. All you will need is honey, lemon, brown sugar and some oil. Mix the ingredients and pour it in an air tight jar. Feel rejuvenated!
USE CLEANSING PADS
Cleansings pads are an essential for summers, you can easily find ones that suit your skin type and needs. Eucalyptus pads are really soft, so great for sensitive skin. Bamboo cotton is slightly thicker, perfect for cleansing oils and dealing with blemishes. Cleanse it away this summer and feel fresh!
