Winter is finally upon us so it’s up to us to make the most of it. From going to parks without the fear of mosquitoes sucking the life out of us to enjoying the best Pakistan has to offer, here are 5 ways you can spend your winter this year like a pro and live to tell it!

Crabbing

Succulent crabs the desi way, best in Karachi

Crabbing is perhaps the highlight of every Karachi winter. It’s the perfect combination of Karachi’s obsession with food and its coastal glory. Hanging out under a clear sky with a view of the ships and the moon reflecting in the water, while being surrounded by the aroma of spicy crab lollipops and prawn cutlets, is what Karachi winter is all about.

Beach

Whenever the overly debated topic of Karachi vs. Lahore comes into play, Karachi beaches are always thrown into the argument, and for good reason. Although the beaches are visited all year round (with the exception of the monsoon season), going to the beach in the winter is an entirely different experience. It’s the one time of the year you don’t have to worry about sunburn, and instead get to sit around a bonfire!

Chai

What’s hotter – Fawad or the chai?

You may be rolling your eyes at the unoriginality of chai since we enjoy it all year round, but sitting outside with your favourite people and sipping on garam chai, perhaps with some shisha on hand as well, is a whole different experience in the winter.

Halwa Puri

Halwa Puri and all its greasy goodness.

A big hearty breakfast keeps you warm – or at least that’s what we tell ourselves when we hog on halwa puri on a chilly morning at Boat Basin!

Picnics in the park

Taking a walk in the park is a great stress-reliever.

Winter is the perfect time to take advantage of our country’s parks, be it for a picnic or a walk. Just remember to keep a mosquito repellent handy!

With the chilly season upon us, what’s your favourite winter activity?
