The highly anticipated directorial venture of Nandita Das is finally available on Netflix. Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Saadat Hasan Manto, the film will surely leave you in awe of both the filmmaker and the actor’s craft. If reviews are anything you go by, it has been expounded as a “stirring, sensitive portrait of Manto” by the FirstPost and the “director’s flawless interweaving of Manto’s poignant writing into her script” by Times of India.

Bringing forth the story of every modern household, Rajma Chawal sheds light upon a father-son relationship. The father (Rishi Kapoor) who wants to reconnect with his estranged son joins social media that too as a girl. What happens next is a rollercoaster ride of fun and emotions. The critics are all praises for the veteran Bollywood actor, calling him “effortlessly on the ball” in an NDTV review and “the best thing about Leena Yadav’s film”. “The characters may or may not be relatable, and there are plenty of leaps of faith the film expects you to make; but it is also an honest, charming film that will make you laugh and cry,” FirstPost stated.

A film that marked yet another reunion of Bollywood and Hollywood, Mowgli lived up to everyone’s expectation.  Based on the popular ‘The Jungle Book’, it stars Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch and Frieda Pinto in titular roles, the film has garnered praises from critics globally. “The filmmakers are clearly trying to bring an uncommon maturity to the fantasy film, and in many respects, they succeed,” the NYTimes wrote. The cast includes Anil Kapoor as Baloo, Kareena Kapoor Khan as Kaa and Madhuri Dixit as Nisha. The movie will certainly brighten up your Saturday night.

Just in time for the holiday season,  The Princess Switch is the perfect movie for entertaining yourself. When two identical women, one who is a commoner and the other who is a princess cross path, they switch their characters. The Christmas vibe and the harmless fun of the movie make for a great watch. “Frothy fun for families looking for escapist holiday fare. It’s harmless entertainment in the mold of a Hallmark Channel movie,” wrote Common Sense Media.

If you want to watch a movie that falls into the genre of dancing and romance, this is the pick for you. “Battle is one of those movies where the story is entirely predictable, and it doesn’t matter one bit,” the Decider wrote. The Norwegian film will about a young girl who finds herself through hip-hop dance. The film will certainly mesmerize you with the powerful and impressive dance acts.
