Tis a season of biopics in Bollywood! With the dream trio, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Karan Johar currently working on a sports biopic, we were intrigued to know who else will be joining the biopic bandwagon next in Bollywood. Well here’s your answer. Tubelight filmmaker Kabir Khan is all set to film a biopic on the former Indian cricket team captain, Kapil Dev.

We did hear that the director had reached out to Arjun Kapoor earlier to play the lead role, but recent updates suggest that the Padmavati actor Ranveer Singh took this role from his best friend.

Kapil Dev, the former Indian cricket team captain is renowned for being the best all-rounder of all time and is celebrated for driving India to its first World Cup victory in the year 1983. A biopic in his name will perhaps be the best tribute to the international icon.

This will be Ranveer’s first biopic ever. We think that the reason why the producers choose Ranveer over his buddy Arjun was due to the latter’s sloppy performance at the box office. But it would have been interesting to see Arjun Kapoor attempt this role and his sharp, tan looks and a very sporty domineer might have helped as well.
