The fashion world is not new to collaborations of renowned brands. Karl Lagerfeld for H&M, Prabal Gurang for J. Crew or Balmain’s recently announced collaboration with Victoria’s Secret being just a few from the top of our heads. Fashion collaborations excite consumers as much as designers, to see two different design aesthetics come together and create something original gives everyone more of a reason to shop! Collaborations across borders are what take fashion to the next level.

Having first collaborated in 2015 and then in 2016, the famous Christian Louboutin and Indian couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee are coming together once again for a limited edition collection. Both the past collaborations featured statement pieces, bringing together Sabyasachi’s traditional aesthetic with Louboutin’s classic red sole and sky high heels to create some gothic-esque pieces.

Their upcoming collection too is no different, featuring 15 women’s styles and four menswear styles created using leftovers of saaris and ribbons from Mukherjee’s archive. The end result though tethers towards costume like pieces, one can only question their wearability while admiring how each piece is evident of both designers’ signature. Perhaps that is the beauty when fashion across borders comes together to create something innovative to wow audiences.
