I admit I have not been very regular in updating my blog. There is something about holidays that sends the brain into hibernation, anway.

I am back to find the fashion industry in Karachi buzzing with activity. Popular VJS Anoushey Ashraf and Ayesha Omar have launched their pret line at Labels and I haven’t seen it yet but I am hearing good things. Former supermodel Atiya Khan is also making another comeback at Labels tomorrow. And speaking of Atiya, Vinny got married last week. Very warm wishes to her. Still on the topic of supermodels, Aaminah Haq is now Fashion Editor of the soon to launch Newsweek Pakistan. She will undoubtedly be a very strong voice on the radar. She was always front row material but it’ll be cool to have her in the media pit this October for the upcoming PSFD Sunsilk Fashion Week.

More…Tapu Javeri is launching his coffee table book of fashion archives (under the Ponds banner) later this week. Tapu-licious, as it is called will undoubtedly be a collector’s item.

As I said, it’s a buzzing season up ahead. Kamiar Rokni’s collection for Eid (which I got a peep at when I was in Lahore) is old world and charming. My advice is to start saving up for it now. And before Eid, a great ‘Come August and Independence Day’ buy would be one of Mahin Hussain’s Independence Day bags. Patriotic to the core, this is the best time to wear your nationality on your sleeve. On your feet however, you might want to be wearing the new collection at Lewre, launching in Karachi at an event managed by Aamir Mazhar.

Ramadhan may not be event heavy but the industry is gearing up for some heavy duty activity after Eid. The Carnival de Couture is rumoured to be featuring HSY and Sabyasachi Mukherjee next. Needless to say, that will most certainly be the show to experience. The people at Unilever are still mum regarding the scale of the  Lux Style Awards but they are expected to take place some time after October, albeit on an intimate scale.

Far away from fashion, Frieha Altaf is planning Pakistan’s very first Humaitarian Awards for Engro Corp and they promise to be Pakistan’s version of the Nobel Prize. Sounds interesting.

The last few days before Ramazan (in this case starting on Thursday) are frantic and that’s exactly what is happening with openings and events. The next few days promise to be jam packed and I have no idea how I’m going to squeeze in Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol’s Aisja which I am dying to watch!
