Priyanka Chopra recently had to face severe backlash and trolling after her American TV show, Quantico, showed Indian nationalists trying to frame Pakistan in a terrorist scheme in the US. “Extremely saddened and sorry for hurting sentiments,” the Indian actor has now apologised.

The protest was so strong that even US television network ABC had to issue an apology clarifying their intentions and Priyanka’s involvement.

“The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it,” ABC stated. “The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case, we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone.”

That’s all good but one is left wondering why Pakistan has never received any apology for the constant negative portrayal of Pakistan and Pakistanis in American TV shows. Prominent Pakistani author Fatima Bhutto took to Twitter to express this sentiment.

“Super. We’ll be here waiting for an apology from Homeland, 24, Tyrant, Rambo, Zero Dark Thirty, American Sniper, Munich…”

She did add though that she isn’t too hopeful! “I suspect we’ll have to wait a few more forevers for that!” The writer had raised the issue last year as well. “I also did a talk last year on Hollywood and propaganda, specifically how Muslims are treated in film.”

Not happening, we think.
