After numerous reports, Mehwish Hayat has sort of confirmed that she will soon be seen as Benazir Bhutto, although we don’t know if that would be for the big screen or TV.

A few months ago, the actress had shared a Something Haute post on her Instagram which talked about actors we’d like to see in biopics of politicians. We’d hoped that Mehwish would do Benazir’s biopic, to which she had responded, “Benazir is a true hero of mine, a real powerful woman and a inspiration for many millions around the world. Would be a privilege and honour to play her on screen and bring her wonderful journey, her inspirational story to the world!”

She, however, did not make any confirmation back then.

Yesterday (Thursday), she took to Instagram to post a picture of herself reading a book on Benazir and captioned it, “We have broken glass ceilings, we have broken the stereotypes, and we have been and continue to be prepared to go the extra mile, to be judged by unrealistic standards, to be held more accountable. Today would have been Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s 65th birthday. It is an ideal time to reflect on her undoubted achievements.”

She went on to add, “I have never really been a political person but leaving that aside there is no denying the great strides she made for women’s empowerment and equality in our country – everything we are still fighting for even today.”

The Actor in Law star ended the note with, “She was a truly remarkable woman and I look forward to giving life to her story soon.”

We don’t know about you, but to us this does sound like a confirmation. Though, we are still waiting for more details.

Mehwish has been a part of hits like Actor in law and Punjab Nahi Jaungi. The latter did extremely well, earning around Rs 50 crores worldwide. Her next film Load Wedding — which also features Fahad Mustafa — is slated to release on Eidul Azha.
