As we reported earlier today (Friday), Mehwish Hayat might be playing Benazir Bhutto after months of speculation.

She took to Instagram to post a picture of herself reading a book on Benazir and captioned it, “We have broken glass ceilings, we have broken the stereotypes, and we have been and continue to be prepared to go the extra mile, to be judged by unrealistic standards, to be held more accountable. Today would have been Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s 65th birthday. It is an ideal time to reflect on her undoubted achievements.”

The Actor in Law star ended the note with, “She was a truly remarkable woman and I look forward to giving life to her story soon.”

And while fans celebrated the announcement, it wasn’t taken well by Benazir’s daughter, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari. She, in fact, tweeted that she will be taking action against this decision. “Certainly no consent from her living heirs/children was sought. Absolutely unacceptable and we will be taking action against it.”

Mehwish, however, was quick to respond. “There is a project at the very early stages of development about your amazing mother. This cannot and will not be done without the consent or blessing of the family.I am sure that the team involved will be in touch before they progress further,” she tweeted.

She added that as an actress she is researching as much as she can about her real idol. “Irrespective of any film I would love to meet someday and learn more about her.”

Seems like making a biopic on BB might not be as easy as the makers would have though. What are your thoughts? Would you like to watch Mehwish portray the role of Benazir Bhutto?
