Last year has brought many international accolades home at the film front with short films like Rani bagging several trophies. The Kami Sid starrer won a European award at the International Queer Film Festival in Germany as well as the Outstanding Writer Award at the prestigious NBC Universal Short Film Festival in Los Angeles. Now the film is all set to make its debut at its home ground with a premiere on 3rd March at the 10th Karachi Literature Festival.

In a press release issued by the producers of Rani, GrayScale CEO Akbar Allana shared, “Rani will be premiering on the 3rd March at the 10th Karachi Literature Festival and after this we plan to hold multiple screenings in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad at various universities, cultural centers and perhaps other festivals too.”

“The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Kami Sid, the writer and director of the film, Hammad Rizvi. I will also be a part of the session which will later be open for questions from the audience,” he added.

Rani is a short film about a socially outcast transgender who sets out to take care of an abandoned child.
