A leader of India’s Bharata Janata Party (BJP), Raja Singh Lodh, released a patriotic song over the weekend which sounds very similar to the tune — Pakistan Zindabad — released by Pakistan Army on March 23 this year which is originally sung by Sahir Ali Bagga.

Soon after Raja Singh shared the song Hindustan Zindabad, it went viral on social media for all the wrong reasons. Raja posted on his Twitter account a caption that read, “My new song which will be released on 14th April at 11:45 AM on the occasion of #SriRamNavami is dedicated to our #IndianArmy forces”.

The song received a lot of backlash when Indian Twitter account Ashok Swain pointed out that the song is a blind copy of Pakistan’s patriotic number.

Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor also took to Twitter to respond to Raja’s tweet. “Glad that you copied. But copy to speak the truth as well,” he wrote.

Journalist Hamid Mir also wrote about Raja’s song which he termed as ‘not copy but theft’:

However, Raja Singh is still in a state of denial as he has posted a video on Twitter refusing that he has copied a Pakistani song:
