Prince Harry announced on Monday that his wife, Meghan Markle, has given birth to a baby boy! The news has left social media whirring. There seems to have been a break in the tradition, as the royal baby is also the first multi-raced baby in recent monarch history.

The Duke of Sussex speaking to the New York Times said, “It’s been the most amazing experience I can ever possibly imagine,” he went on to say about the childbirth, “How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, and we’re both absolutely thrilled.”

According to a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Seeing how the trend of post-partum photography has sky-rocketed, earlier this year the royal couple had announced how they would be abjuring from the photoshoot. This is contrary to the norm; the royal family’s tradition of taking pictures with the newborn on the steps of the hospital dates back to the 1980s.

It is still unclear whether or not the newborn will receive a royal title.
