Ahmad Ali Butt has exclusively revealed to Something Haute that he will be appearing in a new intense drama serial alongside Suno Chanda star, Iqra Aziz.

The upcoming project, titled Jhooti, will feature Ahmed Ali Butt in the role of a middle class shop owner, who is married to Iqra Aziz’s character. Iqra will be seen playing the role of a compulsive liar, giving the drama its name.

“The character that I’m playing is in love with Iqra’s character, and we’re bound by marriage. The drama is centered on how their circumstances and relationship go through major upheavals because of her lying,” revealed the JPNA actor.

The actor has been absent from TV serials for quite some time now, save for the sitcom Mr. Shamim. “The reason I got back into television is because I never really left it, it’s just that I’ve been doing a lot of films lately,” said Ahmad, who has appeared in the mega successful JPNA franchise, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, and will also be seen in the upcoming film, Parey Hut Love.

The actor reportedly sat down with producer, Abdullah Seja, who convinced him to appear in his next serial, to which Ahmed put down one condition; a good script. It seems that the perfect script finally came knocking, as Ahmad seems quite pleased with his character. “It is a very good character, and of course, I come from television and I always will do it, I just don’t want to do the typical sitcoms,” shared Ahmed, revealing that his character in Jhooti will be serious, unlike his recent comic portrayals.

We can’t wait to see how Ahmad and Iqra hit it off in this intense drama. Here’s hoping that it’s as good as it sounds.
