Pakistani films are making a laudable progress when it comes to dance numbers. So far we saw melodic and romantic numbers from Eid ul Azha’s offering, Superstar but Mahira Khan has set the stage on fire with the film’s latest track, Noori.

Noori is also Mahira’s nickname in the film and as she sways to the beat, the lyrics talk about her. The song reminds us of Bollywood dance numbers from the late 90s and no, we are not complaining. The song begins with a close-up of a heroine’s gaze and also captures freeze frames of signature moves.

Mahira

Clad in a bright orange and blue ghagra choli, Mahira complements each frame with her effortless thumkas, reminding us of some of our favourite classic songs. And there is a reason behind this familiarity, Noori is sung by Bollywood’s renowned singer Sunidhi Chauhan and Jabar Abbas.

Mahira

Though we are a little unsure about Osman Khalid Butt’s presence in the song as Mahira stole the limelight throughout the performance. Perhaps Osman’s appearance will make more sense in the grand scheme of things, as we will get to see the backstory of the song in the film. The poster of Superstar confirms that he is only making a guest appearance along with many others namely Mani, Adnan Shah Tipu, Hania Aamir, Kubra Khan and Syra Shahroz.
