It came as a shock to many when the most anticipated film of the year, Thugs of Hindostan, tanked at the box office. The period drama — touted to be one of the most expensive ventures of Bollywood in recent times — struggled to make even INR 150 crore at the ticket window with the film starring mega stars like Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan being bashed criticized by critics and viewers alike.

At a recent press conference, Aamir Khan took full responsibility of the failure. “I take full responsibility of ‘Thugs’ not working with the audience. You can be sure you that we tried our level best but I think somewhere we went wrong. There is a small segment of people who liked the film and I would like to thank them. But we have realized that most of the people did not like our film,” he said.

Aamir also apologized to the fans for not fulfilling their expectations. “I want to apologise to the fans as I couldn’t entertain them and let them down,” he said.
