With period-dramas once again making a buzz on Pakistani television screens, it seems everyone wants to be a part of this bandwagon. The most recent one to do so is Adnan Siddiqui with his upcoming show, Ghughi.

The upcoming period drama is reportedly an intense romance saga between a Muslim and a Hindu with all their fears, differences, morals and traditions at stake. Produced under Adnan’s banner, it also stars the actor as a protagonist.

Speaking to Instep, the actor also revealed the inspiration for his show.

“It’s a period play based on Amrita Pritam’s novella,” Adnan said. “After Dastaan nobody began to make period dramas. With Ghughi we aim to explore the genre yet again; it was a challenging task for a private production as opposed to channels but everyone was very supportive throughout the journey.”

The show is being directed by Iqbal Hussain and written by Amna Mufti, and will go on air this month.
