The year is coming to a close, but not without the release of the last film of the year, Chupan Chupai. Starring Ahsan Khan and Neelum Muneer, the film releases today and despite this being the age of social media and overboard film promotions Chupan Chupai’s promotions did lag, if compared to other films this year. In an interview with Instep, Ahsan Khan reveals the reason behind it.

“I am not keeping promotions very heavy because I disagree with this approach,” Ahsan shared. “I feel promoting a film is the job of TV channels who are associated with the film; they should spread it as much as possible.”

We’ve seen films like Na-Maloom Afraad, Punjab Nahi Jaungi and even Rangreza take on film promotions with endless tours and grand theatrics, while Chupan Chupai opted for the simpler route.

“We didn’t go overboard with anything and I feel very confident about it,” the Udaari actor added. “I have done my job and have given my best, I am sure that people will not be disappointed. Chupan Chupai is an entertaining film; it’s a comedy, comic timings are very good, punch lines are great, songs have been shot well so I just hope people like it. If you talk about entertainment value of the film, I feel people will not be bored, they will connect to it.”

It is true that film promotions build up the hype and excitement behind a film, but often end up raising expectations and in return leaving audiences disappointed. Chupan Chupai releases tonight, so stay tuned for our review and more!
