Ahsan Khan’s performance was the highlight in Qayamat and as soon as HUM TV released teasers from his upcoming drama serial, Qissa Meherbano Ka, fans, as well as critics, were excited to know more about his character and the plot.

While Mawra Hocane will be playing the titular character, Ahsan will be essaying the role of Murad Ali, who judging from the teasers, seems to be a manipulative character, who self-proclaims that he isn’t a human being. In fact, in the teaser released he states that the speed at which he changes his colours can even put a chameleon to shame.

Qissa is a story that revolves around two families, so I would call it a family drama,” shared Ahsan Khan in an exclusive chat with Something Haute. “I feel it’s about the emotions (negative and positive) and behaviour of people. How good and how bad can people get in relationships.”

“It’s a very very relatable story about a girl and everything around her. It’s the kind of drama that people like to watch. It’s about bitter relationships within families and how only a few people suffer greatly,” Ahsan says explaining that it is the kind of story that appeals to the masses.

Responding to why he signed this project, Ahsan shared that he only signs a project if he has his heart in it. “I was offered this role by Momina Duraid who wanted me to play the character. I, however, was initially a bit reluctant to play a negative character after Qayamat.”

“While Rashid was a loud illiterate guy with no shades of grey, Murad Ali is a materialistic and manipulative character who would to any length for his gains,” he explained the difference between the two characters.

The official description of the drama suggests that it is “a story of blind and intense love, misgivings and despair”, and there is an inkling that Murad will be behind these misfortunes.

Ahsan went on to share that he felt like working with Momina Duraid and Iqbal Hussain and is happy with the decision. “The cast is also brilliant,” he further added.

Mawra and Ahsan will be sharing the television screen again after three years. They were last seen together in 2018’s Aangan.

The drama also marks the debut of veteran actor Naumaan Ijaz’s son Zaviyar Naumaan and features several other artists such as Mohammad Ahmad, Ghazala Kaifi, Zeb Rehman, Mashal Khan and Laila Zuberi among others.

Qissa Meherbano Ka is written by Fakhra Jabeen and directed by Iqbal Hussain. It is a Momina Duraid production and will air on Hum TV soon.
