Last year, Lieutenant General Nigar Johar made history by becoming the first female officer to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general in Pakistan Army and Mahira feels honoured to be able to play a woman she admires in upcoming telefilm Aik Hai Nigar.
The second teaser of the biographical telefilm, based on Lieutenant General Nigar Johar, was released on Sunday, and the star’s admiration is quite evident in it as she plays the journey of her life from a child to a successful woman.
We see glimpses of her courage and persistence throughout her life as a young child, when she got into the academy, her marriage to the character played by Bilal Ashraf, and finally when she is bestowed with the honour. Her narration in the background confirms her will to succeed in order to let this door always remain open for women in Pakistan Army.
Johar is the first and only woman in the history of Pakistan Army to reach the rank of lieutenant general, and the third to reach the rank of major-general. She belongs to the Pakistan Army Medical Corps and currently serves as the surgeon general of Pakistan Army.

Aik Hai Nigar is written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Adnan Sarwar. The telefilm is also the second project of Mahira in which she has paired up with Bilal; Superstar was the first one. It is produced by Mahira’s production — Soul Fry Films — along with Nina Kashif and will air on ARY Digital soon.
