Like the whole world, Bollywood too is a fan of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and its renditions of his classics are proof. However, unlike other times, when the tributes became hits, their version of ‘Halka Halka’ for Fanney Khan featuring Aishwarya Rai and Rajkummar Rao has failed to impress. In fact, it made us cringe.

One does not mess with NFAK’s work; it’s a sin and composer Amit Trivedi, singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Divya Kumar as well as the actors featuring in the song are all guilty! The new rendition of Nusrat’s iconic qawwali ‘Halka Halka’ is a Bollywood party song which fails to live up to the expectations.

‘Halka Halka’ is not a song that you can play on repeat, in fact, listening to it even once seems torturous. The video stars an apprehensive kidnapper, played by Rajkummar while Aishwariya plays his hostage. The two bond over blindfolded chowmien, dance parties and random goofing around only to end up falling in love.

Watch the song below:

Fanney Khan narrates the story of a father, played by Anil Kapoor, struggling to fulfil his daughter’s dream to be a singer. With the help of a friend, he kidnaps a popular singer to launch his daughter’s career.

Directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan is all set to hit screens on August 3.
