With the general elections scheduled for a few days from now, the political mudslinging campaigns are at their pinnacle of viciousness. However, while the big names are enjoying an evergrowing popularity thanks to this, there’s a question of what they’ll actually do if they win. Will there be a real change? That’s exactly what Ali Gul Pir is asking with his latest release, ‘Paris.’

Aptly named ‘Paris’ after the infamous claims made by PML-N to transform Lahore into the French capital, Ali explores the various ridiculous ways politicians have manipulated the populace for their own gains, in this satirical number.

The song also features SomeWhatSuper, who have provided an interesting chorus. However, what we love even more in this is Ali’s super-casual presence in the video, which creates an interesting contrast with the scathing lyrics that ‘Paris’ has.

We also asked Ali what the motive behind the song was.

“I made the song because I thought I should highlight the absurdities of Pakistani politics,” Ali told Something Haute. “Books are being written to defame each other, they are getting treated in London [instead of Pakistan], meanwhile babies are delivered in rickshaws here! Just thought I’d highlight that before election day and encourage others to vote.”
