Ali Zafar has finally broken his silence over the Lux Style Awards controversy surrounding his nomination in the Best Actor category for Teefa in Trouble. Numerous nominees have boycotted the platform on the pretext that a person accused of sexual harassment has been nominated and while no one has named Ali, it’s obvious it is his nomination that hasn’t gone down well with them given there’s no other nominee facing such an allegation.

The singer-cum-actor took to Twitter on Friday and shared a video of his opening performance at the 15th Lux Style Awards. What’s interesting is that Meesha Shafi is in the thumbnail of the video and Ali’s message too was rather cryptic.

Alfaaz per tawajjoh de ker ise ghaur se dekhiye. Kuch jawab ismein milein ge aur kuch bohat jald. Ghabraana nahin hai. Her cheez ka aik waqt hota hai aur voh jaldi aane vaala hai. [Watch this carefully and pay attention to the words. You will find a few answers here and the rest very soon. Don’t fret. There’s a right time for everything and it is about to arrive],” Ali tweeted.

The said video is from the opening ceremony of LSA 2016 where Ali sang and danced on a song. The lyrics go like “Mein teri dost, tu mera yaar… Mein upar se karun tujh ko pyaar, per andar se ye sochun mein ke… yaar I’m a bigger star. Kya mein barra, Kya tu barra… Is star wars mein kya parra, Jo dil se barra ha wo barra ha baki sab tou…“ Later in the song, Ali also sings “Is mulk mein kya ho raha ha, phir bhi award ko to rou raha ha.

While we wait for Ali to elucidate what he intended to say with his cryptic tweet, Meesha Shafi has taken a jibe at Iman Ali’s stance over the LSAs. Iman had posted a message on Instagram where she termed protest against LSAs “childish walkouts” and “social media posts playing judge, jury and executioner”.

Meesha then responded with Eman Suleman’s picture and a message of appreciation and love for the model who was the first to withdraw her LSA nomination. “There’s a new Eman in town. And she’s not just beautiful from the outside. The substance she holds within is absolutely stunning! So so much better than the last one.”

Anyway, here’s the performance Ali tweeted. Let us know what you think:
