After lending his voice to the Pakistan Super League [PSL] anthem for the past three years, Ali Zafar has been replaced by actor-singer Fawad Khan to sing the powerful song for the 4th edition. Soon after the release, fans were curious as to why Ali opted out of the opportunity and the singer has finally spoken up about it.

The highly-anticipated and popular cricket extravaganza, PSL is about to begin next month. But, before the tournament begins, fans and netizens look forward to the power boosting anthem of the league. However, this year’s song has failed to strike a chord with many fans. In a conversation with sports journalist Yahya Hussaini on Geo News, the actor revealed that his busy schedule did not permit him to sing the anthem for the 4th time.

“Due to my busy schedule, I could not manage to sing the theme song and had informed the organizers about it in advance. PSL is a brand now, and I am glad that I had a role to play in its expansion,” he said.

He furthered that he had previously composed, written and sung the anthems and the platform should now, allow new people to perform.

The new anthem Khel Deewano Ka which released on Friday is written by Shuja Haider and features rapper Young Desi. The opening line-up performers for PSL’s opening night include Fawad Khan and Pitbull to name but a few.
