One of the most popular Urdu author Umera Ahmed is widely known for her novels such as Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Man-o-Salwa, Peer-e-Kamil and many more. Most of these novels have been adapted into television dramas and Umera was the screenwriter for these plays. Now the author is all set to release her latest literary work Alif nationwide on the 25th April.

According to a press statement, “Alif is a novel set partially in Turkey, while the other half is in Pakistan, and talks about a conscientious filmmaker Momin, who struggles perpetually with his spirituality versus the intricacies of his glamourous world. There is some love interest involved and a whirlwind of emotions surrounding family values, Sufism and a love for dervishes.”

Does the premise sound familiar? Yes, you guessed it right. It is the synopsis of the much-hyped drama serial Alif starring the big wigs of our TV industry. For those who read Khadija Mastoor’s Aangan prior to the drama serial, this is a great opportunity to grab the novel Alif and find out more about the characters and the plot. However, this may come as a spoiler for many who want to wait and watch the Haseeb Hasan directorial.
