Staying true to its name, a soothing set of pastel hues rule Ammara Khan’s recent luxury prêt collection titled The Pink Orchid. The range of ensembles is quintessentially based on the designer’s signature style, which blends a significantly contemporary ethos with luxurious embellishments. The assortment plays beautifully with soft tones – pink, peach and grey – totally in contrast with heavy trimmings, to make a bold statement without much effort.

What comes as a breather is Ammara’s decision to keep the limited-edition range free from prints. The collection exudes elegance and glamour with sharp silhouettes and edgy designs, keeping in mind modern-day bridal trousseau choices. The styles incorporate a number of contrasting fashion options in one garment, without allowing it to look heavy or gaudy. This, we feel, is the designer’s forte. We particularly love how this ash grey number adorned with pearls goes well together with bishop sleeves, a belt and scalloped, flared pants with such ease.

Those of you who haven’t finalized their outfits for the next scheduled wedding in the family, and are looking for something that looks refined, elegant and eclectic, this series of sophisticated ensembles will hook you in. The couture line has apparels accentuated with pearls, crystals and stones over net, raw silk and organza.

The most noticeable piece for us in Ammara Khan’s latest collection is her take on the sari pant style. The tea-pink garment drapes exquisitely over the waistline with asymmetrical pleats at the front, paired with sleek straight pants and a fanciful pearl and crystal ornamented blouse. This look is definitely a head-turner!
