Karachi: Renowned writer and former Pakistani model, Annie (Quratulain) Ali Khan was found dead in her apartment, which was found set ablaze on Saturday in Karachi.

The news of her demise was posted on Twitter after her friend and famous journalist, Hasan Zaidi confirmed it. Although not much is known about her demise, the police have deemed it as a possible suicide, as burnt up books were found in the apartment. The case, however, is still being investigated.

Her body was shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors confirmed that suffocation was the cause of death.

Her career in modelling was short-lived as she went on to pursue a career in writing and became a freelance journalist. Her work has appeared in popular publications like RIC Journal, The Caravan, Vantage, Roads & Kingdoms, Slate, Marie Claire U.S., Tanqeed, Chapati Mystery, Herald, The Asia Society website and other Pakistani publications, as well.

Many of us remember her as a model with her bright smile during the MTV days and some of us also knew her as Javed Sheikh’s Saali in Shehzad Roy’s hit song.

Our heart goes out to the family for this irreparable and sudden loss.
