Actor Anoushay Abbasi has been getting a lot of attention and recognition for her role in the currently airing Prem Gali. She plays a strong female and resilient character in the drama and proves her skill as an artist. Further showcasing her talent, See Prime’s latest short film Dancing Girl directed by Mohsin Talat also features her in a role like never before.

Dancing Doll narrates the story of a young woman who messes up her own fate by going against her family and marrying the wrong guy. What follows ahead is a life of hardships and her sacrifices as a single mother.

The almost 20-minute film is beautifully layered and the ending breaks the heart. “Nothing compares to a mother’s love and her dedication towards her children,” reads the description on the Youtube channel.

While the content is great, one has to give credit where due. Anoushay nails her character and her expressions are flawless. The soundtrack of the film also creates a strong impact and helps deliver the message.

Women in vulnerable situations are often at risk of being taken advantage of and Dancing Doll beautifully highlights the bitter truth of our society.

While the narrative highlights a daughter’s mistake to go against her parents and make hasty decisions, the short also teaches us that it’s important for parents to not abandon their own blood. The world is a scary place and a little security can somehow save lives. Also, what you see can often be deceiving regardless of your age or experience in life.

Penned by Wasiq Ali and directed by Mohsin Talat, the short film is co-produced by Ali Hussain and Mahib Bukhari. Dancing Doll features Anoushay Abbasi, Faizan Khawaja, and child-star Angel Kanwal.
