Following the Pulwama attack and India’s cowardly strike on Pakistani territory, the Hindi film industry announced a ban on releasing their films in Pakistan. Following suit, some music directors and labels also removed songs by Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan from their productions. Atif Aslam is an acclaimed singer in Bollywood as well, who has sung many chartbusters and is loved by all and sundry. The singer recently opened up about the removal of his songs from T-series official YouTube channel.

Talking on TV show Aik Din Geo Kay Saath, Atif revealed how the ban hasn’t affected him much.

“My main source of income has always been concerts and they are still running successfully. I recently did a concert in Nairobi and will be doing a concert in Mauritius very soon. Though the label I was working for (T-series) removed my song initially, they later restored the tracks,” he said.

Earlier some sources claimed that T-series restored Atif’s tracks because the record label lost approximately 1 million subscribers after removing these songs. In an earlier interview to Weekly Blitz, Atif shared that he believes it was due to his fan following.

“It happens. I don’t know. I think I’m really loved over there (India) by fans. Border-ban has appeared often but I personally don’t know the reason behind why my songs were taken off and then were back on YouTube. The fan following in Pakistan and India is huge, which is perhaps gauged by the numbers. I feel it is due to the response of the fans,” Atif said.
