LSA’16: Who’ll Wear What?

The biggest and brightest award shows are around the corner and we, at Something Haute, are all set to ask the most important question: Who’ll wear what this year? The red carpet looks for the much celebrated Lux Style Awards can swing both ways: it can either have a swoop-back pleated twill and glamorized shirtwaist (as sported by Mahira Khan last year) make headlines for best dressed or have any sorbet-shaded cocktail dress dismissed as frou-frou by style critics. Will this year’s LSAs showcase striking fashion statements that’ll woo the crowd? Or would it be boo’ed by the crowd? Fashion is targeting Muslims!

Islamophobia is an issue we have on our hands, especially those of us who are Muslim and global citizens at the same time. Right? Yes that is the impression you get when you're watching the news. But wait, fashion runways and retail operations tell another story. The way we see it, fashion houses - for quite some time now - have been tapping into the Muslim market globally. Runway collections have been exhibiting clothes that are more tuned to Asian buyers, Muslims more specifically. Why is that so? Well...

Qureshi, along with the cast and crew of Actor in Law, was gathered to release the trailer of FilmWala’s second venture exactly two years after Na Maloom Afraad. The stage was set and posters were up announcing the three lead-cast of the upcoming film Actor in Law, starring Fahad Mustafa, Mehwish Hayat and Indian veteran actor, Om Puri. "This is the first time an Indian actor has flown in to play a part in a Pakistan production," Nina, marketing head of Entertainment URDU 1 and representative of Urdu 1 pictures,...

7 fashion brands for Ramzan

It’s the time of the year when women easily accept 30 days of abstinence from food and water but direct their guilty pleasure from food to fashion! They indulge (most eagerly) into fresh off the rack, graphically patterned and vibrant outfits, not that we're complaining. There’s an instantaneous need for a spiritual cleansing in Ramzan, but also one of a different kind, and what may that be, than to indulge in some hard-core retail therapy? As Eid approaches, the markets are ready to get swarmed and as far as our trend report goes, ready-to-wear is topping the charts! While R2W is available a dime a dozen and there are umpteen options to choose from, here are our top high street picks from retailers...
