After much delay and shuffle in the cast, writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s upcoming film Kaaf Kangana has finally commenced shooting with even more changes. The film, which was set to initially star Sohai Ali Abro, and then Urwa Hocane, saw further new developments with Ayesha Omar now taking the lead!

“My character is based in the Walled City in Lahore, she’s a very bubbly, fearless and feisty character,” Ayesha confirmed to Something Haute. “She’s not scared of anybody and she’s got her dada wrapped around her finger, who she lives with.”

Ayesha, who is co-starring with Sami Khan and Eshal Fayyaz, felt that the shooting has been tough.

“We’ve been shooting in the walled city and it’s been really really tough but it’s been great as well,” the actress said. “The footage has come out really well and Khalil sahab knows his work, he knows what to do and how to direct his actors. I’ve never worked with someone like him.”

The actress has previously worked in Lahore Se Aagay and Yalghaar – which have both seen the actress in unique avatars. Will the lightning strike thrice?

“It’s a different role because every character I’ve played has been unique,” she said. “This one is from interior Lahore and I’ve never played such a character. She’s basically a character who shows how not to give up, but when the need for sacrifice comes it’s something you have to do. I can relate to the character because she’s strong-headed, fierce and is not afraid to say what she feels. She loves wholeheartedly and she’s simple, she’s not clever and calculating.”

Kaaf Kangana is scheduled to release around Eid-ul-Azha this year, and we’re looking forward to seeing Ayesha on the big screen again!
