After facing countless obstacles with its casting and other delays, the makers of Azaadi have finally managed to release the trailer!

Essaying the struggle and the fight for freedom, Azaadi is a love story set against the backdrop of freedom struggle in Jammu and Kashmir and has been directed by Imran Malik.

Moammar Rana plays the central character of a freedom fighter who chooses Kashmir over love, career, and family, whereas Sonya Hussyn is shown as a British journalist of Pakistani roots, madly in love with him. The film also stars veteran actor Nadeem Baig as Moammar’s father whose dream he’s on a mission to fulfill.

The teaser was released last year on February 5, Pakistan’s national holiday that marks the country’s support for Kashmir’s freedom. However, before we even begin to analyze or be too critical about the trailer which released last evening, one thing we feel is that the topic is sensitive and therefore has the potential to attract the masses. And for those who enjoy the loud action, it may even prove to be a treat.

Like all patriotic films showcasing the struggle of freedom fighting, Azaadi too has a similar feel. While Moammar Rana might not have impressed us much (he could have easily been replaced by another younger actor), we like Sonya’s character and look in the movie. For now, let’s say that only time will tell how well it will do at the box-office.

Freedom is not far, Azaadi is set to release on Eid Ul Fitr 2018.

Until then, watch the trailer below and tell us what you think:
