The much-awaited Shahid Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Shraddha Kapoor film, Batti Gul Meter Chalu finally has its trailer out – and it’s definitely a thinker!

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh of Toilet – Ek Prem Katha fame, the film focuses on the issue of electricity shortage and skyrocketing energy bills, which have plagued the lives of common citizens.

In the trailer, however, the story feels like so much more. On one side, there’s the social conflict, where we see how the corruption in the electricity department has created disastrous results, while on the other there are literally electrifying glimpses of performances by Shahid, Yami, and Shraddha, which show the emotional – and at parts, fun – side of the film.

However, despite strong performances, in true Narayan Singh style, the film’s plot seems to be the true winner. How many times have we as citizens not seen the overcharging of meters, wrong meter readings and over expensive bills? It’s this portrayal of reality, which may attract the audiences the film needs.

The film is slated for a release on September 21, 2018.
