England beat India by nine runs to win the Women’s World Cup final at Lord’s last night, but support was high for the Indian team throughout the match. Priyanka Chopra, Shahrukh Khan and Ranveer Singh were amongst the many actors who took to Twitter to show their support, while Akshay Kumar even attended the match.

Akshay tweeted a picture of himself waving the Indian flag at the match, and was lashed out on for holding the flag upside down. The actor soon removed the picture and tweeted, “Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolor. Didn’t mean to offend anyone, the picture has been removed.”

Similarly, Rishi Kapoor, who has been ridiculed on social media for his previous tweets on the Pakistan VS India match, tweeted “Waiting for a repeat of Sourav Ganguly’s act on the balcony of The Lords Ground, London, when India beat England 2002 NatWest series final! YO.” Many related this to the incident where the Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, took off his shirt and waved it to the crowd after India won a series against England in 2002, hence bringing the actor under fire for being offensive and sexist.

Rishi Kapoor responded to the angry tweets and wrote, “WHAT WRONG HAVE I SAID? I DIDNT SAY ANY FEMALE PLAYER SHOULD! I ONLY SAID SOURAV GANGULY SHOULD REPEAT HIS SHOW. YOU HAVE A WRONG MIND DEAR!”

While most accepted Akshay Kumar’s apology, Rich Kapoor wasn’t that lucky. Twitteratis lashed out at Rishi Kapoor, advising him to stay off social media especially when he’s had a drink or two!
