All of us are aware of the acting and singing prowess of the dynamic sister duo Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas. The two recently featured together in a fun musical video which speaks against unnecessary divisions amongst the two neighboring nations India and Pakistan.
Written by Neelum Ahmad Bashir, it’s been sung by Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas. The video features the two veterans as neighbors separated by a stone wall; with Asma playing a Pakistani woman while Bushra is an Indian.
In the video, we can see the duo singing in Punjabi against the notions of war and borders; the underlying message being that the public is well-aware of the political games played by the leaders for power and authority. The video also highlights the similar lives of people on both sides of the border in a fun way and the problems they face such as scarcity of water and electricity.
The neighbors fear the extreme repercussions of an atomic war and conclude that ‘Let’s just pick up the bombs and throw them in fire… Let’s dance to our hearts delight’. We also hear Bushra singing Jhumka Bareli Wala and Asma crooning to Kala Shah Kala. The song concludes with the beautiful message that we should not pay heed to petty issues.
