Best Model (female) of 2011
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who's the fairest of them all?
Best Model (female) nominee: Cybil Chowdry
Cybil is one of my favourite models. She's beautiful and tall and she has the poise and grace to take the statue away. The only problem could be her age but then when has that ever been a hindrance before? Let's not drag it in now.
Best Model (female) nominee: Rabia Butt
The younger and gorgeous Rabia Butt poses the biggest competition for Cybil. Rabia is a hot contender and she's won this award twice before. Rabia's biggest competition, however, is Ayyan. Between them, it's anyone's game.
I personally am very fond of Amna Ilyas as a...
Sana Safinaz, photographed with their children, for the very first time. (L-R) Zuvair, Sana, Reza, Safinaz and Sascha. The task was to get Obi to stay still and let go of the rock that he refused to let anyone take out of his mouth, Only Bilal, Safinaz's husband (who shied away from being photographed) could control him. But then Obi was an overgrown pussycat not a dog!
Bilal, just in from a game of golf, trying to convince Obi to let go of the rock. It was an extremely exhausting but fun day for everyone!

To imagine that two women could dominate an ostensibly...
There's something Maheen Khan said when I met her two weeks ago: "I love fashion weeks because that's a time when we designers stop thinking about sales and start thinking about concept. It channels us towards creativity."
When we were one: Rizwan Beyg will be kick starting his own SHOWCASE (today), which will undoubtedly be well planned and impressive given his obsession with perfectionism whereas Maheen Khan will be reviving Fashion Pakistan Week next week. As they say in The Hunger Games: May the odds be forever in your favour!
Maheen will be showing her classic Maheen line as well as her high street label Gulabo at Fashion Pakistan Week 3 (FPW3), one of the many fashion weeks/showcases...
For those of you who are not following the latest TVC craze, here's my choice of Summer 2012's best lawn campaigns yet.
The feel is old school, classic and regal. Good job Guddu Shani!
Sun, sand and wind blown so fresh and perfect for a French summer. Kudos Shahbaz Sumar.
Nostalgic for a dusty old romantic movie. Asad ul Haq draws Sonam Kapoor into Pakistan....
Islamabad Fashion Week has been postponed to April 10, 2012 which means that between FPW3 (April 6-9), IFW (April 10-13) and PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week (April 13-16) April will be a month to conserve energy for. Add the Sky Fashion Showcase to that list (March 26-29) and you'll be exhausted already.
What a feeling!
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy's Vanity Fair party outfit by Sana Safinaz was accessorized by a lovely (ruby and diamond) ring and bracelet designed especially for the occasion by Sherezad Rahimtoola. SOC was also presented a pair of diamond earrings to go with the bracelet but she couldn't wear them as the earrings she had worn earlier (by Kiran Aman) were quite heavy and she couldn't...
Karachi Snog Street Party
Saturday Night Fever began with the Snog Street Party and ended with Humsafar. The unmentionable Pakistan versus England ODI would have permeated all the fun had one taken it seriously!
A frail yet spirited Ardeshir Cowasjee officially inaugurated Snog this Saturday
The talented and stylish LUMS graduate Maleeha Chaudhry, who has found her niche in fashion with Daaman
ActOne performers delighted all Snoggers at the street party
Fathma Amir (right) was one of the many fun people to be found on the pink carpet
I stuck around till 8:00pm and then rushed off to catch Humsafar but apparently the Snog party got even more delightful with...
Spotted: Oscar nominee Obaid-Chinoy at Xander's Cafe with her Polly&Me shoulder bag
There you see Sharmeen with a friend, a day ahead of her session at KLF
This weekend was quite hectic, with the Karachi Literature Festival taking place and great films releases in the cinema. But between two different genres of art, one did have to catch a quick bite. Where else to go other than Clifton's favourite new cafe, Xander's, which is all the more popular for the cheerful and bright ambience and the fact that Xander's always has a surprise or two on it's menu. If you haven't yet tried, I would go for the new fire-oven baked thin crust pizza...
