Times have changed since the last wedding season and this year we’re looking at a more subdued, minimalist ethos for festivities. Tapping into winter’s new energy is Lahore based designer, Ammara Khan, who’s unraveling her first collection of unstitched luxury fabric. Featuring the designer’s signature tasteful aesthetic, this 6-piece capsule is perfect for afternoon weddings, especially sun-kissed soirees made a little more intimate by Covid restrictions.

They say heaven is in the details and each one of the 6 outfits in this collection, christened Elya, is nothing short of celestial. Ammara Khan’s montage of festivities is held together by the perfect mélange of diaphanous fabrics, intricately crafted motifs and blends of colours creating styles such as Aida, Ghislaine, Elena, Laila, Celina and Zinnia: all powerful and yet intriguing women in history. Moreover, each design has been styled different, as to allow a flow of more creativity.

Ammara Khan’s debut collection of luxury unstitched ensembles is nothing short of a hint of couture. Let’s take a closer look…

Aida

Crafted in a serene shade of mint green, this intricately embroidered piece brings to life a delicate tulle shirt paired with an equally ornate dupatta. The standout element in this ensemble is the emerald green accents, bringing out a third dimension thus making a grand statement.

Ghislaine

Paying homage to a magnificent sunset, this beautiful blend of coral and berry hues is titled Ghislaine. The shirt is the highlight of this ensemble as it features fine floral embroidery, sequin details and hot pink embellishments that are truly haute. The highlight is the heavily embroidered hem, set off by a chaandi foil inset. The dupatta features a delicate booti chann and regal corner motifs. If stitched with the same elegance, the design will be a hit at any festive occasion.

Laila

As the name suggests, Laila is an embodiment of perfection in beauty. Rendered in a midnight blue hue, the shirt is covered in delicate embroidery featuring a story of tulips in shades of deeps maroons, blues and rich gold. The striking piece is paired with a tulle dupatta with small motifs over all and embroideries overlaid at the border. You can accentuate the outfit with an additional use of beaded tassels to give it signature Ammara Khan splendour.

Celina

With its soft powdery pink shade, this outfit is perfect for all wedding festivities. What sets it apart is the embroidery, which is further hand embellished to add more oomph to this subtle shade of pink in a luxe tulle fabric. The gorgeous scalloped hemlines, cuffs and borders with sequin details give it a more classy, refined and elegant look, complemented by artistic lowers tailored as a sharara. It is paired with a rich ivory gold baadla dupatta with heavily embroidered motifs. All in all a bedazzling look!

Elena

This shade of ice-blue reminds one of ‘Frozen‘ thus being feminine while giving a sense of strength. The palette is complemented by pops of coral in the embroidery. Silver threadwork dominates the artistic shirt that also boasts dainty embellishments and long tassels over the hemline. Elena comes with a foil dupatta featuring silver floral prints and sequin details on the pallus, along with chic raw silk pants with embroidery running down the length of the trousers.

Zinnia

Bold and fiery, Zinnia in this uber rich ruby red shade is loaded with exquisite embroidery and hand embellishments with gold, green and coral accents. Armed with a contrasting jade green organza dupatta, which has a beautiful gold foil jaal with signature Ammara Khan details, this look is on fire! Intricately embroidered scalloped borders finish off the edges, completing the unforgettable statement piece.

Elya unstitched festive collection by Ammara Khan is now available exclusively online and at the Ammara Khan Lahore studio.
