Renowned drummer Zulfiqar Ali, popularly known as Pappu Sain, passed away in Lahore on Sunday. He had been suffering from liver cancer and was admitted to the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) for almost a month.

It was reported by the media that the doctors declared he passed away due to an accumulation of water in his stomach. Pappu Sain was suffering from liver problems for over two years, was admitted to the hospital after his health worsened.

The drummer’s funeral prayers were held at the shrine of Baba Shah Jamal and he was later laid to rest at Mai Sahiba’s shrine at his ancestral Chak Juhmra village.

He performed at several international venues, including US, UK, Canada, UAE, Sweden and Germany. The ace drummer was also associated with the famous musical band Overload.

Pappu Sain won great fame and love for his skill not only in Pakistan but also globally. He has performed at local and international festivals and is a recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
