Producer Rafay Rashdi’s much-anticipated web series Baadshah Begum has been creating quite a buzz since the project’s cast has been announced. We already know that Gohar Rasheed, Iman Ali, Imran Ashraf, Faysal Quraishi and Mohsin Abbas Haider are part of the project, but Rafay has recently revealed that Umer Adil, who has Chalay Thay Saath to his credit, will direct the web series.

Rafay took to social media to share the news.

“[Baadshah Begum] to be directed by the wonderful, humble, talented but, above all, creative filmmaker Umer Adil; I welcome you on board,” he posted, adding that he is looking forward to the journey.

“From the time we connected first on the edit of Thora Jee Le and Chalay Thay Saath till now — who knew where life would take us next. And I would view CTS edit admiring the beauty of scenes compared to my choti film which hadn’t captured much,” he said.

Rafay also clarified that he deliberately didn’t want to direct this project.

“There were rumors that I would direct [the series] myself but no. It had to be passed on to someone with similar or more experience, and maybe someone who would own the project, as much as I and my team mates, and would dive into the most important part, i.e. content, which many of us don’t,” he added.

Written by Saji Gul of O Rangreza fame, Baadshah Begum is a story of sibling rivalry where members are in a constant struggle to acquire power within the family. The shooting for the project will start in October.
