Coke Studio 10’s latest episode offers a glimpse at the legend that the late Aamir Zaki has left behind. ‘Naina Moray‘ brings together some powerful names but sadly, this is the last performance fans will ever get to see of the guitarist, who passed away earlier this year.

Directed by Jaffer Zaidi, of Kaavish fame, ‘Naina Moray‘ features Javed Bashir and Akbar Ali on vocals while also featuring a guitar solo by Aamir Zaki himself. The song is one of the most melancholic yet beautiful melodies to have come out so far on this season and it immediately draws a listener in. Javed Bashir is, as always, magical and Akbar Ali is a fitting choice to perform this duet.

Considering the fact that nobody could have ever fathomed that this would be Zaki’s last performance, it is a powerful show put together by all the musicians. Zaki’s guitar solo reminds us why the industry has lost out on so much since his demise.

Musically, what really works in ‘Naina Moray‘ is the way the song is weaved together using a combination of modern and classical instruments. Gul Mohammed, of Sounds of Kolachi, plays the sarangi brilliantly.

Perhaps Jaffer has done what he does best; creating beauty in sadness and sorrow. The song speaks of heartbreak and that pain can be heard very clearly in the song and Jaffer’s musical style tends to gravitate towards expressing sorrow and sadness.

Watch the song and tell us what you think!
