After releasing three episodes of the season, Coke Studio 11 has received a mixed bag of feedback on the tracks that have come out. However, with its fourth episode – titled Gulistan, the platform hopes to raise the bar with this week’s headliners.

So, what exactly does Gulistan has to offer? We have the lowdown…

‘Aatish’

Rising to fame with her ever-popular CS hit, ‘Baazi’, Aima Baig has paired up with Shuja Haider and his soulful lyrics for this romantic track. However, whilst it’s admittedly a well-prepped song with some catchy moments, ‘Aatish‘ fails to deliver on the mellow feel it should have possessed. Will it make it to our playlist? We doubt it.

Mahi Aaja

After their success with Tera Woh Pyar in the previous season of the platform, Momina Mustehsan and Asim Azhar make a comeback with their duet, ‘Mahi Aaja‘. A mix of electronic beats and the duo’s mellifluous vocals, the song manages to work as a segue between two songs, if anything at all. It lacks that resonating factor and that’s why it’ll probably end up being a passable song this season.

Nami Danam

Possibly the magnum opus of the episode, ‘Nami Danam’  is a melodious ode to global music and its cultural heritage. Mixing Pakistani traditional folk music and a Persian traditional kalaam by Khwaja Usman Harooni, this track manages to evoke a myriad of emotions in its runtime. Has the song won our hearts? Absolutely.
