A checkerboard runway, with oversized cages and sculptural disembodied body parts hovering above, set a surreal stage for the Dior show at the Paris Couture Fashion Week.

Models dressed primarily in monochrome hypnotic patterns took to the runway, but it was the delicate surrealist masks created by British milliner Stephen Jones that stole the show. With spider web-like catty eyeliner, the faces were framed with various kinds of face masks – some feline, some mailbox –, but all of them black, giving a Black Swan-esque feel to the spectacle.

While the collection is being critiqued for being mundane with its usual tulle and sheer aspects, we’re sure it made for a great watch!
