It’s an extremely well shot video and delivers the same kind of thrill that runs through your veins when you watch the Air Force Day air display (we did, over the horizon at Clifton Beach, last year) and witness fighter pilots of the Pak Air Force cut through the clouds like bolts  lightening. Their synchronised movements are at the same time breath-taking, overwhelming and awe inspiring.

One would think that this is exactly the feeling Azaan Sami Khan was hoping to achieve when he composed ‘Main Urra‘, the latest musical release from upcoming ode to the Air Force, Parwaaz Hai Junoon. Sung by Shuja Haider, it does deliver on emotion, for sure.

Featuring a range of active fighter planes including what appear to be the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the J-17 Thunder and Mirage in the spotlight, the song boasts – on the sidelines – actors Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir, Shaz Khan and others. A lot can be said about the merit of these planes – which apparently were heroes of the 1965 war – but they serve the purpose of delivering patriotic sentiments. Two days before Independence Day and a month before Air Force Day (September 7), this song will help fuel a wave of patriotism across the country.

The song and its melody, however, definitely has a Top Gun vibe to it. Or maybe Top Gun was just such a strong part of our growing up years that we find it hard to shake it off for another anthem. Consequently ‘Main Urra’ is good but it doesn’t take our breath away. Do let us know though what you think of it.
