In this constant pursuit to keep photography alive as an art (as opposed to a commercial exercise alone), Karachi’s ace photographers Arif Mahmood and Tapu Javeri launched a book of interesting portraits at the IVSAA today. The book titled ‘Dou Rukh’ captured many of Pakistan’s high profile faces from a vast cross section of fashion, television, humanity and arts.

The portraits were undoubtedly striking, as expected from two of the most experienced names from the field, but it was the event itself that was just as delightful. Warm albeit breezy, the IVSAA courtyard lit up to welcome a diverse gathering of interesting people, including many of whom had been photographed for the book.

A smattering of fashion designers included Rizwan Beyg, Deepak Perwani, Shamaeel, Bunto Kazmi, Wardha Saleem, Sanam Chaudhry, Nida Azwer and Adnan Pardesy amongst others. Nabila popped in and out, taking a breather from a very busy day. One also noticed popular TV stars like Shakeel and Mathira along with a fresh new breed of IT girls who no-one could really identify but they added to the beauty of the event nevertheless.

The new size zero Mishi Khan was the envy of the evening.

It was an evening when friends got together for a chat over Cafe Koel’s de-lish canapes and tangy tamarind sherbat. Easy, relaxed and stylish is what described it best. This is exactly why some people will always spell class and this evening the credit for elegance went to the photographers, of course, but also to Publisher Markings, Kiran Aman and Selina Rashid at Lotus PR who made sure all the right people were there.
