Fashion Parade featuring South Asian art and fashion, headed to New York City this week, and it was all for a good cause. Four designers from Pakistan, namely Élan by Khadijah Shah, Kamiar Rokni, Ali Xeeshan and Faiza Samee along with Indian designers Dehli Vintage Co. and Rabani & Rakha by Raaz were featured in the event this year.

According to press statement, Sadia Siddiqui, the creator and event director for Fashion Parade, “aimed this venture to showcase to the Western world another softer, but by no means timid image of Pakistan and India, where high-end designers showcase the best of South Asian couture.”

Amongst the Pakistani designers, Élan rule the roost by presenting its Le Doux Poison collection that features formal wear with a fusion of western cuts. The highlight of the assortment was Élan’s signature craftsmanship and exquisite embellishments that brought delicate yet flamboyant looks to the ramp. It was the label’s summer luxury collection, which aimed to merge western sensibilities and eastern craftsmanship.

Layering was also one of the key trend in the collection with tulle and ruche details over the sleeves or drapery. A few pieces in the collection were meticulously executed with larger than life silhouettes with an appeal that is quintessentially Élan.

The range covered a spectrum of on-trend shades, from sublime pastels to ornate neutrals, on a variety of textures such as tulle, organza and chamois. The collection was a contemporary take on traditional South Asian aesthetic, destined to create a dramatic presence on the runway.

As per CBS News, the platform always teams up with a non-profit organization to raise awareness through the event. This year, they partnered with the Patient Benefit Foundation, a resource for those who lack insurance or are under-insured and do not have a resource for elective surgeries.
